Survey to Improve Workplace Computer Usage
The
Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access (CATEA) at Georgia Tech
is studying workplaces to help individuals with and without disabilities become
more effective at their jobs. They are interested in individuals who would like
to take the survey they developed in cooperation with Fordham University. The
survey should take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete. If you would like to

"Basic" Class (includes all modules listed below)
This 2-hour course is designed for first time computer users with no previous experience. A 10-minute break is schedule between each hour. The modules are organized using a "building block" approach to help reinforce learning objectives for maximum proficiency.
Title: Laptop Preview
Length: 5 minutes
Objectives: Understand how to connect power adapter, open (unlatch) the laptop, power up, and connect the USB mouse. Also covers clock settings, volume control, and recycle bin).
Title: Mouse and Touch Pad Orientation
Length: 10 minutes
Objectives: Understand mouse features and how to use them (wheel, left and right button), drag and drop, selecting single and multiple objects, moving objects, deleting objects, copying and pasting objects. Build working knowledge of mouse pointer displays (arrow, cross, finger, etc.). Also covers how to hold the mouse for ease of use.
Title: Window Pane Management
Length: 15 minutes
Objectives: Understand the "Window" concept and how to open, minimize, maximize, resize, close, and switch between window panes.
Title: Files and Folders
Length: 30 minutes
Objectives: Understand how to find, view, expand, contract, sort, move, copy and create files and folders.
Title: Starting Software Applications (Programs)
Length: 10 minutes
Objectives: Understand how to find, start, and end programs (calculator, Windows Explorer, and Internet Explorer).
Title: Internet Explorer
Length: 30 minutes
Objectives: Understand how to increase font sizes, set home page, entering website addresses (URLs), opening and closing tabs, navigating between tabs, and refreshing the page.
Title: Basic Internet Searches
Length: 20 minutes
Objectives: Understand how to search the internet using common search engines such as Google and Yahoo.
